When Luigi first opened the doors on Church Street in 1985, he had one simple goal: serve honest food, cooked fresh, at a fair price. Forty years later, that promise hasn't changed — only the queue has grown.
Now in its third generation, Luigi's Chip Shop remains a true family affair. From the batter we mix fresh each morning to the potatoes we chip in-house, every meal is made with the same care Luigi himself put into the very first bag of chips that left the counter.
We're proud to be part of the fabric of Athlone — the place locals bring their children, just as their parents brought them.

Been coming here since I was a child. The cod and chips is still the best in the midlands, hands down. Nothing beats a Friday night bag from Luigi's.
The curry chips are absolutely legendary. Proper chipper sauce, none of that watered-down stuff. Always our go-to after a match. The lads won't go anywhere else.
Stopped here passing through Athlone and now I make a detour every time I'm in the area. The staff are lovely and the food is always spot on. A real gem of a chipper.
